Matt Damon finally did the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Monday after being challenged by friends Ben Affleck and Jimmy Kimmel. While Damon said he would also make a donation to the ALS Foundation since he waited so long, he also took the opportunity to raise awareness for his personal cause of choice, clean water for all.

Damon, like other celebrities, noted that there is a drought in California, so he didn’t want to waste clean water. He also said that it didn’t make sense for him to waste clean water when billions around the world don’t have access to clean water at all. So, he gathered toilet water from toilets around his house and dumped that on his head instead.

For anyone following Damon’s exploits, this should come as no surprise. He is the co-founder of water.org, an organization that raises awareness for the lack of clean water available in poorer countries. Damon has even utilized social media in the past, famously going on a bathroom strike until more people had access.

Damon challenged George Clooney, Bono and Tom Brady to do the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge next.
