The five-year-old boy who was removed from the Southampton General hospital in England by his parents, against the wishes of doctors, was found at a hospital near Malaga, Spain.
According to BBC News, the parents of Ashya King were arrested and being questioned about the incident. King’s parents, Brett and Naghemeh King, took the boy from the Southampton General hospital on Thursday. The family's reason was that they wanted to seek an alternative treatment to radiation.
The family posted a video on Youtube, which showed the boy and his father. King was hooked up to the feeding machine, which his father said was working fine.
The search for the boy, which was launched on Friday, was frantic because police feared his health would “deteriorate rapidly” without care. The boy was in a wheelchair and was a long term patient at the Southampton General Hospital, reported NBC News.
The machine through which King is fed, is a complex unit. At the time of his disappearance, it was not clear whether the parents had spare batteries for the machine, but in the Youtube Video, the boy’s was shown hooked up to the machine.
A team of police traveled to Spain to investigate the situation, but was unable to bring the boy back immediately because he was being treated at a hospital in Malaga.
The Southampton General Hospital will have to correspond with the hospital where King
is staying in order for him to be transferred.
Mr. King said his son was “responding so much better” in Malaga than he was at the previous hospital. He called the hunt for his son “ridiculous” and wanted authorities to call it off.
The family was found when staff at the hotel where they were staying identified them.
