A University of Montana student who went missing over a week ago was found dead Thursday from an apparent car accident.

According to KTIC, officials said that Lucias Robbi was killed in a one-vehicle accident after his car traveled down a steep embankment and hit several trees on the way down.

His body was found inside the vehicle near the Stanley Lake turnoff in Custer County, Idaho.

FOX News noted that authorities and volunteers had been searching for Robbi, for more than week. His family said they spoke to him last Tuesday, a day before he was expected to attend an orientation at the university. The 21-year-old never made it to the school the following day.

Family friend, Holly Hayes, shared Thursday’s news on a Facebook page set up during the search for Robbi.

"Thank you all for everything you've done Finding Lucius Robbi," Hayes wrote. "This evening he was found. He passed in a fatal car accident. My heart goes out to all who had the pleasure of knowing him and to all those who have been touched by him."
