An Arlington Elementary student suffered injuries to her face. The school claims the student was pushed off a slide on the school’s playground, but her mother claims she was beaten by another student on Tuesday.
According to Gulf Live, the mother, Lacy Harris, filed a police report on Thursday after her daughter returned home with the injuries. The mother claims another child kicked her daughter on the slide, but the school says otherwise.
In a statement, the school addressed in incident and denied the claim that another child was involved.
“The parent was contacted and the student received medical treatment. No other children were involved in the incident. The Pascagoula School District remains committed to the safety of all its students,” the statement read.
Harris set up a fundraiser for her daughter, who has been identified as Avalynn, online and via Facebook. The money will pay for the child’s medical bills.
According to the Epoch Times, the Facebook page “Justice for AvaLynn” has over 13,000 likes and the hashtags #Justice4AvaLynn and #JusticeForAvaLynn were trending on both Facebook and Twitter.

On Friday, Harris wrote that she was thankful for the support and asked that it continue as they continue to get to the bottom of the situation.
“As much as my heart is broken for my daughter, I am also amazed by the outpouring of love and support from our family, friends, Oasis church family and our community,” Harris wrote.
There is no active investigation by the police department.
