According to News Channel 4, NBC plans to take advantage of its stars' social media clout to plug viewers in as they watch the show. In the preceding week for example, host Seth Meyers will be providing exclusive video footage of rehearsals and press conferences through his social media handles (@LateNightSeth).
Marietta Sirleaf better known as "Retta" of Parks and Recreation fame will also be the red carpet and in-show live tweet correspondent on the big night.
Social media bigwigs Facebook and Twitter will also be getting in on the fun. Twitter will have a zip line camera that provides footage from the red carpet and pre-show events. Facebook will also introduce its new "Mentions Box," a device that links people with their favorite public figures at events.
And this is only the beginning. There will also be a selfie station, where attendees can take selfies that will be featured on NBC's Facebook page. E! Online will also have a social media Q&A with real time submissions from social media.
In anticipation of a huge amount of viewer-star interaction, NBC has already gotten a jumpstart on involving viewers in all of the glamorous fun.
The 66th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards will air live Monday Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. EST.
