Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan, released a third trailer on Thursday that gave a glimpse of the far off worlds visited and further established the encompassing theme of love.
Interstellar, written by Jonathan and Christopher Nolan, is about Matthew McConaughey's character, Cooper, venturing through wormholes to worlds lightyears away in search of a new inhabitable world for humans. As the poster reads, "Mankind was born on Earth. It was never meant to die here."
Previous trailers left audiences with plenty of questions. Why exactly is he leaving Earth? Why is Earth dying? How do they have this technology? What is this movie about? The recently-released trailer seems to wrap it all into one theme: love. "Love is the one thing that transcends time and space," Anne Hathaway's character tells Cooper.
Nolan told his motivation for the space-time spectacle at Comic-Con in San Diego. "I grew up in a time when to be an astronaut was the highest ambition,” he said, TheImproper reported. “The idea we’d keep exploring space, pushing further and further out, seemed inevitable. I felt that had fallen off greatly over the past couple of decades.”
With blatant inaccuracies in recent sci-fi films, Nolan ensured that the movie will stick to a realistic foundation and focus on the overall message of hope for space travel.
The cast of Interstellar is packed out, including Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, Topher Grace, John Lithgow, Matt Damon and McKenzie Foy.
The highly-hyped film is set for release in Nov. 20, 2014.
