Nicki Minaj seems to be taking her costume mishap at the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards in stride even though her wardrobe change might have been doomed from the start.
The rapper told Us Weekly the malfunction occurred because there wasn't enough time for her to zip her dress. However, she spoke highly of her experience opening the awards show. "It felt amazing to open the show," she said.
But others involved with the performance could see this problem coming from a mile away. "During the dress rehearsal she did the number numerous times and could not make it into the dress zipped up even once. I've no idea why she didn't just decide to wear something else. She just didn't have the time to change from one outfit into another, there was no way," a source said to Us Weekly.
Also noticeably missing was the snake that was supposed to be a part of Nicki's performance of her new song "Anaconda." We reported earlier that during rehearsals for the number a dancer was bitten by the snake and had to be hospitalized. Apparently, MTV decided to play it safe by nixing the snake according to another Us Weekly source.
"MTV vetoed the snake on the show because it bit the same dancer again, when they were rehearsing off-site [on Sunday]," the source said.
