DreamWorks Studios and Fox are partnering up with Participant Media to help produce Steven Spielberg's untitled Cold War spy film.

The film will be distributed domestically by Disney, and in some international territories, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fox is on board to both co-finance and help distribute internationally, while Mister Smith Entertainment distributes in Africa, the Middle East and Europe.

"We have had a successful and rewarding partnership with Participant on six total films over the past years," Jeff Small, DreamWorks president and COO, said. "We look forward to continuing this productive relationship which allows us to bring exciting and quality films to audiences around the world."

Spielberg's spy film will star Tom Hanks and Amy Ryan, who joined the project in late July. Mark Rylance will also star.

Hanks will star as James Donovan, who is an attorney tasked with negotiating for the release of an American U-2 pilot who was captured. Ryan will play his wife in the film.

Spielberg is of course directing and will produce alongside Marc Platt and Kristie Macosko Krieger. Executive producing duties will be handled by Adam Somner and Daniel Lupi.

The original script was written by Matt Charman, but Joel and Ethan Coen stepped in and wrote the most recent draft.

Participant will also team up with DreamWorks on Michael Fassbender and Rachel Weisz's project The Light Between Oceans.

The untitled spy thriller is slated for theatrical release on Oct. 16, 2015.
