Revel Casino Hotel in Atlantic City is now set to close down earlier than expected.
It was announced on Tuesday that the $2.4 billion casino was set to close on Sept. 10, however, the company has decided to shut its doors eight days earlier.
According to The Philadelphia Inquirer, on Friday, the new closure dates were approved by New Jersey gaming regulators.
"Revel will close the hotel at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 1 and the casino at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 2. All concerts and events scheduled prior to Sept. 2, will go on as planned, and all concerts and events scheduled for Sept. 2, or later, will be cancelled,” a company statement read.
"We thank all of our employees for their professionalism, dedication and hard work. We know that they have provided an outstanding experience for our guests and will continue to do so through this process."
The swanky Revel casino opened just two years ago and has never been able to turn a profit.
The entire gaming town of Atlantic City has seen a major decline in recent years and several casinos have closed or announced plans to close this year alone.
