At this point everyone has seen or at least joined the fun for the newest viral sensation, the ALS ice bucket challenge. ALS, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, informally known as Lou Gehrig's disease affects the nerve cells in the brain. ALS causes involuntary movement, numbness and over a period of time a loss of motor skills. The ice bucket challenge was an attempt to momentarily create the feeling of having ALS. Corey Griffin created the challenge as a means to raise awareness while supporting his friend Pete Frates who was diagnosed with the disease.
The ALS ice bucket challenge has garned so much attention that is has made it to the set of Mission: Impossible 5. According to People Actor Tom Cruise and directer Christopher McQuarrie accepted the challenge from fellow actor Hugh Jackman and the cast and crew of Pan. Before they took the icey plunge, McQuarrie and Cruise donned black shades as they nominated Adam Goodman, David Ellison and Brad Grey. Cruise also added that they would be donating to the ALS Foundation on behalf of the entire cast a crew.
Although most celebrities could barely tolerate one bucket of ice cold water Cruise and McQuarrie took the challenge to new heights after they were soaked by 7 buckets of water. After the fifth bucket of water and few expletives Cruise said, "How much more?!" The 52-year-old actor clearly hasn't lost his edge or excitement for the extreme, fans can anticipate the release of Mission: Impossible 5 in December 2015.
