Monk star Tony Shaloub has been tapped for a recurring role in the upcoming seventh season of Showtime's Nurse Jackie.

Edie Falco's title character is getting a new friend in Shaloub's Dr. Bernard Prince, who is a new emergency room doctor. Prince is great with patients and at the same time handles his boss Gloria Akalitus, played by Anna Deavere Smith, quite well.

The Emmy award-winning actor most recently starred in CBS' ill-fated We Are Men, but is best known for playing Adrian Monk, who was an obsessive-compulsive detective. He won three Emmys during his time on the USA Network show. He also starred in Wings and has had roles in a variety of films, including Barton Fink, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and both Pixar Cars movies.

Nurse Jackie, which got an early renewal for its seventh season, stars Falco, Merritt Wever, Dominic Fumsa, Paul Schulze, Betty Gilpin and others.

Series mainstay and Twilight alum Peter Facinelli decided to leave as a series regular back in March, according to The Hollywood Reporter. He might return in some minor role, but he's currently set to star in NBC's upcoming series Odyssey.
