The Civil Wars have officially broken up, according to a statement released on their website. Back in 2012, Joy Williams and John Paul White, announced that they will be taking an indefinite hiatus and no further explanation followed for fans.

The announcement explained to fans that, “the Civil War s— made up of duo partners Joy Williams and John Paul White — have regretfully decided to permanently part ways.” The statement added that the decision was a very difficult decision for both parties to reach.
Fans will be able to hear The Civil Wars one last time as they are giving away their cover of “You Are My Sunshine” to fans through their website.
