The drama continues with casting for Lifetime’s Aaliyah biopic with two unknown actors cast as Missy Elliot and Timbaland.

As TheCelebrityCafe.com previously reported, Lifetime had some drama over who would play Aaliyah when Disney star Zendaya Coleman dropped out due to conflicting feelings over the film.

The Hollywood Reporter reported that Nickelodeon actress Alexandra Shipp is now set to play the “More Than A Woman” singer. Shipp will play Aaliyah from her late teens to when she died at 22. Shipp herself is 23-years-old.

The most recent casting for the film are unknown actors Chattrisse Dolabaille and Izaak Smith, who are going to play rappers Missy Elliot and Timbaland, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Aaliyah: Princess of R & B is set to follow the late singer’s music career up to her tragic death in a plane crash. Missy Elliot and Timbaland were collaborators and producers with Aaliyah for several of her albums, including the album she released the year of her death.

Lifetime is hoping to wrap up filming by the end of the summer. Aaliyah: Princess of R&B is expected to premiere on Lifetime this fall.
