Wiz Khalifa's concert scheduled for Saturday night in Chula Vista was canceled as police continue to investigate Friday night's shooting in Mountain View.
As previously reported, a 38-year-old man was shot while backstage after the concert held at the Shoreline Amphitheatre. The man was shot at least five times and eventually died of the wounds after being transported to a local hospital.
There were reportedly multiple witnesses to the shooting, but as of Saturday morning had not yet spoken with police. The shooter fled the scene and has not yet been located.
Now it appears that Chula Vista Police Department have decided to shut down tonight's concert since the investigation remains in progress, Live Nation revealed, ABC10 reports.
The concert, for Wiz Khalifa's Under the Influence Music Tour, was not going to be rescheduled and instead those who already purchased tickets would receive refunds.
He took to Twitter earlier in the day to reveal the disappointing news to fans, tweeting, "Due to a situation out of our control, tonight's UTIOM show is cancelled."
He followed that one up with a second tweet, "This was a senseless tragedy. Violence is never the answer. My prayers go out to the victim's family."
It isn't yet known if Khalifa's Sunday night concert in Irvine would be canceled as well due to Friday's shooting.
