A California woman found her way into the giraffe pen at the Henry Vilas Zoo in Madison on Saturday and was kicked in the face by one of the enormous creatures.

Luckily, the 24-year-old animal aggravator, Amanda Hall, is not suffering from any life-threatening issues. She did, however, earn herself a $686 fine for harassment of zoo animals. When asked why she felt compelled to enter the giraffe enclosure, Hall told police that she just loves giraffes. Unfortunately, they didn’t seem to love her.

After climbing over a fence to get into the exhibit, Hall was licked and then kicked by Wally, who, at 2 years old, stands 12 feet tall, according to the Associated Press.

“Imagine if that animal came into your house, how would you feel about that? You would probably be nervous and excited, so an animal is going to have a similar experience, have a similar response,” zoo curator Jeff Stafford told WKOW.

As for Wally, Stafford reported that all is well with him.
