Community may be coming back, but in the meantime, the actors still need to work. Yvette Nicole Brown has found something to do, joining CBS’ new version of The Odd Couple with Matthew Perry.

Brown is taking a role once held by Sarah Baker, Perry’s co-star from NBC’s short-lived Go On. She will play an assistant to Perry’s slobby Oscar.

According to Deadline, the part was initially planned as a regular role, but with Brown stepping in, it has been lowered to a recurring part. That’s necessary since it is still unknown when Community will begin filming for its return on Yahoo Screen.

Baker’s departure isn’t the only change the series is seeing. The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Georgia King (The New Normal) left the role of a resident in Oscar and Felix’s apartment building. Lindsay Sloane (Horrible Bosses) and Wendell Pierce (Treme) are both staying on.

Perry wrote the script with Joe Keenan (Frasier) and is also among the executive producers. His neat-freak Felix Unger will be played by Thomas Lennon (Reno 911!). The series is a CBS TV Studios production.

Again, there is no set timetable for Community’s return, but it could launch by Christmas. As for The Odd Couple, CBS has held it back for midseason.
