Jill Duggar of TLC’s 19 Kids and Counting fame is explaining her decision to share her pregnancy news before doctors usually advise.
Duggar, 23, announced she and husband Derick Dillard are expecting their first child just two months after their wedding.
She announced she was pregnant at just eight weeks along, when doctors usually advise women to wait until 12 weeks.
“Understanding that the majority of miscarriages happen within the first trimester, and believing that every life is precious no matter how young, we decided to share our joyful news as soon as we could,” she told Page Six.
The couple’s first child is due this March.
Duggar also talked about keeping engagements short when waiting until marriage to have sex.
“You may not wanna push the wedding date out too far, as those natural God-given desires with too much time between engagement and marriage can make it harder to remain pure,” she said.
Duggar and Dillard, 25, got engaged after an 8-month courtship. Their wedding aired on her family’s reality show.
