Rosie Perez has officially joined The View as its newest co-host.

Perez will be joining long time host Whoopi Goldberg and returning co-host Rosie O’Donnell according to E! News . She released a statement about the news, saying "I am beyond thrilled, honored and completely surprised that I've been asked to join The View," Perez will be filling in one of the seats left vacant by Sherri Shepherd who was with the show for seven years and Jenny McCarthy who was only with the popular talk show for one year. This won’t be the first time that the actress is sitting at the talk show table; she guest hosted the show in February.
Perez is known for her work as a dancer and actress in the late 80s. Perez was first a dancer on the popular show Soul Train before landing her first feature film role in the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing . In addition to her acting roles, Perez is also an accomplished community activist and author, earlier this year she published her autobiography called Handbook for an Unpredictable Life: How I Survived Sister Renata and My Crazy Mother, and Still Came Out Smiling. The book chronicles her early life and beginnings as a backup dancer and choreographer living in New York.
The second seat left vacant by Shepherd and McCarthy is going to political commentator Nicolle Wallace who’s name had been floating around since the summer began according to Tvline, Wallace also released a statement saying that she feels incredibly humbled and excited to be joining The View amongst three women that she greatly admired.
