Aladdin the musical started its run on Broadway earlier this year, and now the successful Disney production is making its way overseas to Tokyo, Japan.
Thanks to a partnership between Disney Theatrical Productions and Shiki Theatre Company, Japanese fans will be able to enjoy the musical in their native language.
"I am very honored to be able to bring Aladdin to Japan as its first production outside of Broadway," Shiki Theatre Company President Chiyoki Yoshida said, according to Playbill. "Shiki Theatre Company and Disney will celebrate our 20th year of partnership next year. Aladdin is sure to open a door to 'a whole new world' for the live entertainment industry in Japan."
Thanks to a prosperous partnership with Shiki Theatre, Disney also previously brought The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast Aida, and The Little Mermaid to Japan, selling more than 16 million combined theatre tickets.
Aladdin the musical has been very successful on Broadway. Back in April, tickets for the stage show were selling out at an average price of $287 per ticket, Forbes reported.
