Brittany Murphy’s father, Angelo Bertolotti, is voicing his utter disgust in the Lifetime biopic about his late daughter’s life. He expressed his disappointment in everything from the plot to the actress that plays Murphy; Amanda Fuller.
In an interview with The Examiner, Bertolotti slams the television movie, which will air on Sept. 6.
Bertolotti said he’s “disgusted and outraged” with the “trashy project” after getting the first glimpse of the trailer of the film.
“Frankly, I am amazed at their audacity of calling it ‘a true story,’ without conducting any research or consulting with any members of the family,” he said, denying the film’s plot about him not being present in her life and calling those claims “despicable.”
“Lifetime’s casting was atrocious. Amanda Fuller, the girl playing Brittany, looks absolutely nothing like her. Everyone looks ridiculous in their bad wigs and the dialogue is nauseating,” he continued.
Fuller has since responded in an interview with TV Page, saying she’s done “extensive research” and has come to the conclusion he wasn’t involved in her life at all.
“He was in jail when she was young and then she tried to have a relationship with him to no avail,” she said. “It wasn’t until she died that he became so vocal in caring so much about his daughter. I think that is kind of sick and I don’t really respect that.”
She continued to say Murphy had “abandonment issues” because of him and “sought love in places that she wasn’t going to get it.”
