Deadmau5, whose real name is Joel Zimmerman, claims, that Disney channel ready to sue him because his signature look is a little too similar to Mickey Mouse.
The world famous DJ is notorious for using oversized headphones for his sets. These headphones feature large rounded ears. The powerhouse company alleges that these particular ears are too similar to the look of their popular character, Mickey Mouse.
Disney is prepared for a fight, they reportedly filed court documents today in hopes to block the DJ from getting a trademark here in the U.S. TMZ reports . The company claims that allowing Deadmau5 to have the trademark will have a damaging effect on the Disney brand around the world.
Deadmau5 has been rocking his look for 10 years and he took to his Twitter account to express his frustration with the issue, he wrote to his followers "Disney thinks you might confuse an established electronic musician/performer with a cartoon mouse. That's how stupid they think you are." E! News reports .
The DJ isn’t going down without a fight, he applied for his trademark in the U.S. last year and he has already been granted a trademark in 30 countries, including the U.K. and Japan.
Tuesday, his attorney released a statement on the case, telling E! News that “Our client will not be bullied by Disney and is prepared to fight to protect his rights to his property."
