When the Ray Rice incident reached a whole new level on Monday and brought even more attention to domestic violence, women took to Twitter to use the hashtags #WhyIStayed and #WhyILeft to share their personal stories. However, some idiot at DiGiorno decided not to take the two seconds to learn what those hashtags really meant and tried to use it to sell pizza.

The Twitter account for the frozen pizza company, which has already become well known for sending out incredibly stupid messages, sent out a Tweet Monday that read “#WhyIStated You Had Pizza.”

As Mic.com points out, DiGiorno did later send out an apology, which read, “A million apologies. Did not read what the hashtag was about before posting.” The company also deleted the offensive tweet, but, like everything else on the web, it still survives in screenshots.

DiGiorno’s Twitter page is a case study on why corporate Twitter feeds are incredibly pointless. The pizza chain’s schtick on the social network site includes sending out snarky messages, often in all caps. For example, during the NFL games over the weekend, the page send out note after note and tried to get people to use “#DiGiornoYouDidnt.” We think that hashtag will be many tweets, but not for what DiGiorno wanted.
