Mythbusters fans were really disappointed with the way Discovery appeared to kick Kari Byron, Grant Imahara and Tory Belleci to the curb during the long-running show’s season finale last month. So, as with any instance of Internet rage, a petition was created and Discovery has responded. It won’t quite be what fans wanted to hear, though.

During the Aug. 21 season finale, hosts Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage announced that the Mythbusters second team would be leaving in what looked like a hastily recorded clip. The three were given a very short highlight reel, with Savage and Hyneman wishing them the best and thanking them for their service to science.

Shortly after the episode aired, a fan started a petition, writing that Discovery took a major step backward by letting Byron go. Nearly 37,000 fans have signed the petition.

“While Adam and Jamie are amazing educators in their own right, Kari was what drew me and so many others to the show, year after year,” the petition reads. “It’s also disappointing to see Grant, the sole person of color on the show, dropped as well.”

In a statement to Entertainment Weekly, Discovery assured fans that they still want to work with Byron, Bellici and Imahara at some point, but didn’t say anything about them returning to Mythbusters.

“We are all big fans of Kari — as well as Tory and Grant — and are looking for other projects where we can work with them,” the network said.

With the second team trio gone, the show will return to its original format, with Savage and Hyneman busting (or occasionally confirming) two myths per show.
