A South Carolina father will be charged with the murders of his five slain children.
According to WLPX-TV, Timothy Ray Jones Jr., was picked up in Alabama and will be charged with the killings once he is extradited to South Carolina.
The 32-year-old is suspected of murdering his children who ranged in age 1 through 8 years old.
NBC News noted that Jones allegedly put the children’s bodies in garbage bags and drove them to a wooded area in Alabama. He then allegedly confessed and led law enforcement authorities to the spot where he dumped their remains after he was pulled over for driving under the influence in Mississippi.
"I've never seen a case like this," said Lewis McCarty, the sheriff of Lexington County. "We all see things in our career that have an impact on you. This case has impacted anyone ... who's had anything to do with this."
Jones’ ex-wife and mother of the five children reported them missing last Wednesday.
Police have said that Jones has not revealed why he allegedly killed the children.
