The father of Simone Battle has come forward and admitted that he was completely surprised by her apparent suicide and said he thought she was doing well.

Anthony Battle exclusively spoke with TMZ and said that while it had been almost a month since he last talked to his daughter, he thought she had been doing quite well.

He said if she was suffering from depression, he wasn't told about it, but admitted, "It's possible she may have had an invisible disability."

As previously reported, the former U.S. X-Factor star was found by her boyfriend dead of apparent suicide in her bedroom closet.

Law enforcement sources have said at the moment all signs point to the singer taking her own life, but an autopsy is planned for Sunday.

Battle appeared to be doing well as she appeared on the 2011 season of X-Factor and made it to the round of 17 before being eliminated. The 25-year-old was also a member of G.R.L., which sang the chorus for Pitbull's "Wild Wild Love."
