Vin Diesel has a very tough outer appearance, but it seems he also has a soft side-for the environment! In what first seemed to be just another ALS ice bucket challenge video, the man behind the voice of character Groot added his own stakes to go along with the popular ALS challenge. Diesel accepted the call from director James Gunn and raised him a tree.
Diesel called upon Gunn to “plant a tree for Groot” in a video posting.
Whether it was truly a spearhead to better the environment or just a media hoax, fans are jumping on the bandwagon, according to Comicbook.com. Excited fans are taking to Twitter, posting pictures of their newly planted trees with the caption, #PlantATreeForGroot.
Gunn claims that if 50 fans complete the challenge, then he will donate $5,000 to the Rainforest Trust.
