Rappers and dynamic duo, Jay-Z and Kanye West, have signed on to co-produce writer, director, and actor, Chris Rock's upcoming film, "Top Five."
Reported by Deadline a slew of talent is behind "Top Five," with co-producers Jay-Z and Kanye West; executive music producer, Questlove; and actors such as Chris Rock himself, Rosario Dawson, and Kevin Hart, among others.
As previously reported "Top Five" received rave reviews at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), making it a big surprise at the festival. However, Rock brought the film to the festival without a distributor, starting a bidding war among some of the big-league distributors. But Paramount won the right to distribute the film, and for a hefty sum of $12.5 million.
"Top Five" follows the story of Andre Allen (Rock) who is a New York City comedian that has become a big film star, but who starts re-evaluating his life while he was doing stand-up comedy after meeting with a journalist (Dawson).
Rock has worked with rapper, West in the past, on his song, "The Blame Game," from West's fifth studio album, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" released in 2010. The song features a monologue by Rock at the end.
