The last day of New York’s Electric Zoo music festival has been cancelled due to poor weather conditions, marking the second year in a row this has happened albeit for much different reasons.

The final day, Sunday Aug. 31, did get off to a start but with six hours left of the festivities, organizers had to shut the festival down.

Rolling Stone reports the festival tweeted before 5pm, “.@ElectricZooNY has shut down for the remainder of the festival due to extreme weather conditions,” adding, “We apologize to fans, but your safety is our main concern.”

They later tweeted that even if the weather cleared up, there would be no “re-entry” into the festival. Among the EDM acts that were left to perform on Sunday night were Kaskade, Chase & Status, Bingo Players, and Alesso.

The reason for the cancellation was because of a flash flood warning issued for New York City. The festival took place on Randall’s Island.

Last year, Electric Zoo was forced to cancel the last day for a very different reason. After two concert-goers overdosed and died, city officials demanded to put an end to the festival. Other festival goers were hospitalized and arrested, causing the city to say in a statement that “the safest course is to cancel the remaining day of the event.”
