Lee Brice opened up to CMT on his inspiration for his hit song “I Don’t Dance,” saying he would be nowhere in his career without his wife.
“I Don’t Dance” is country singer Brice’s fourth number one single. He told CMT that all of his success is due to his wife.
“She doesn't hold back when I bring home songs. She'll tell me the truth. And sometimes I hate it,” Brice said.
“I Don’t Dance” was a gift from Brice to his wife at their wedding, which took place in the spring of 2013. In the song’s music video, Brice includes actual footage from his wedding.
“It's the most personal thing I've written ever,” the country singer, 34, told People. “It was for my wife for our first dance at our wedding. And it wasn't even supposed to be really a song on the record. It was nothing about that, it was just for Sara.”
The reaction to “I Don’t Dance” from Brice’s wife was thankfully positive.
“I mean, she really loved it,” Brice said. “She had a little tear in her eye, and she was like, 'Lee!'"
Brice is currently touring around the U.S.
