Louis C.K. spoke out on Thursday over comedian and fashion critic Joan Rivers' passing and saying that "It really f---ing sucks."
The popular comedian and television star released a statement shortly after it was reported that Rivers had passed away earlier in the day. "I feel very lucky that I knew Joan Rivers and I feel very said that she's gone," Louis C.K. wrote, TIME reports.
He goes on to say that she was the first person he saw "attack a stage with so much energy." The Louie star notes that Rivers was kind, enjoyed working and was both "real" and brave."
In the statement, Louis C.K. closes out by noting, "I looked up to her. I learned from her. I Loved her. I liked her. And I already miss her very much. It really f---ing sucks that she had to die all of a sudden."
The Fashion Police host died on Thursday less than a week after she went in for surgery on her vocal cords and stopped breathing. She was then placed into a medically induced coma over the weekend, but it isn't known if she ever actually came out of with due to conflicting reports and vague responses about her condition.
Her daughter Melissa Rivers released a statement early in the afternoon on Thursday confirming that her mother indeed did pass away and was lucky to have her friends and family by her side before she quietly died.
Melissa said in her statement that though it might be hard to laugh at the moment, "I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon."
