Over 25 years after it launched, a spinoff for Married...With Children is in the works.
The spinoff would likely focus on Bud Bundy, who was played by David Faustino in the original series. Faustino, along with Christina Applegate and Ed O’Neill, all joined Katey Sagal in Hollywood this week to see Sagal get her star on the Walk of Fame, so clearly they are all on good terms.
Sources for E! News first revealed plans for the spinoff. Sony Pictures TV, which produced the original show, hasn’t commented.
Married was among the first shows that aired on Fox and debuted in 1987, notes The Hollywood Reporter. It ran until 1997 and the pilot was re-aired in 2012 for Fox’s 25th anniversary special. Michael G. Moye andRon Leavitt created the show.
While the studio hasn’t said anything, Applegate spilled the beans at Sagal’s Walk of Fame ceremony. “We're going to do something with Dave maybe. I don't know if it will be in character,” she told E!. "But I don't really know. I don't know what that's going to be. I don't know if I'm allowed to speak on that at all. So I should probably stop talking about it right now!”
It’s not clear if any member of the original cast beyond Faustino would star in the show. Sagal could have some free time now that Sons of Anarchy ended, but O’Neill is busy with a little Emmy winning show called Modern Family.
