The last thing any son wants to hear from their father is that they are not safe, no matter what they think. However, that’s the hard truth that Carl must learn from Rick in The Walking Dead. It’s pretty hard to stay safe with zombies around.

AMC released a new teaser on Monday morning, which lasts a minute and gathers up plenty of action from season five. It’s the first trailer since a longer one was released for Comic-Con in July.

Like that one, it reveals that Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group do survive Terminus, but not until they barely escape with their lives. How they manage to escape is still a mystery. AMC has to hold something back.

We do know that Rick is mad as hell that he and his friends were held captive. “It’s not over until they’re all dead. They don’t get to live,” he says in the trailer. He also tells Carl that he can never let his guard down, as if Carl has somehow not learned this by now.

The trailer was released just a few days after AMC finally put in a pilot order for The Walking Dead’s companion series. It’s not technically a spin-off since it is expected to focus on a different group of zombie apocalypse survivors. The new series will premiere next year.

As for The Walking Dead’s fifth season, that starts on Oct. 12.
