Walking off a cliff sounds rather cartoonish, but it became a reality for one lucky sleepwalking camper in Kentucky, who walked right off a cliff last week.

The camper fell off the edge of the cliff in Red River Gorge, where he was camping with his friends Thursday night. Wolfe County rope technician John May told WKYT that the man fell 60 feet, landing in an area with several large boulders.

His friends called rescue crews to the area around 1:15 a.m. Friday morning, the moment they realized he was missing. They told officials that he has sleepwalked in the past, which they believe explains the incident.

“The campers who were with him found him at the bottom of a 60 foot cliff. The individual has a history of sleepwalking. So camping on a cliff ledge, that's probably what led to this incident,” May told the local station.

According to the Associated Press, May confirmed that the man suffered a fractured leg, a dislocated shoulder and a head injury. Thankfully, he will make a full recovery.

“It's really a miracle. He fell 60 feet into boulders and from what we've been told he should make a full recovery. It's quite remarkable,” May said.

The man’s name was not released. He is from Cincinnati.
