It looks like Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s 23 Jump Street will most likely happen, but it’s not definite that directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller will be back to direct.
Sources told Deadline producers Neal Moritz, Hill and Tatum have tapped Rodney Rothman to write the script. Rodman wrote 22 Jump Street and he’s also the head writer on Late Show With David Letterman.
Although Lord and Miller have been looking over the script, they have not committed yet. They will remain on as producers, though.
MTV News pointed out the end of 22 Jump Street, which poked fun at sequels. However, considering the first film made $201 million globally in 2012 and its sequel made $319.6 million, a third isn’t too big of a surprise.
Ice Cube was in both films as Captain Dickson, Hill and Tatum’s police boss. The comedic duo goes undercover in both films – the first, a high school, and the second, a college.
