Police in Kansas City have arrested a man they believe could be connected to a shooting on Tuesday that killed three people and left two others critically wounded.
The Associated Press noted that while investigating the triple homicides, which took place in the victim’s homes, three guests at a Motel 6 across town were physically assaulted.
Officers apprehended a 34-year-old suspect early Wednesday for the assaults and believe he could have been involved in the fatal shootings.
"The investigation continues to determine if there is any relationship between the motel assaults and the earlier homicides," law enforcement officials said.
Authorities also said that no weapon was used during the motel assaults, but police found a gun on the male arrested.
The shooting victims include one man and two women who were pronounced dead at the scene and two other victims who were taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
After news of the killings broke, residents of the neighborhood were obviously shaken. As the Kansas City Star noted, the crime is the deadliest in the Missouri city in more than two and a half years.
