After the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations visited West Africa, she was questioned upon her return and is now monitoring herself for the Ebola virus.
The Telegraph reported that Samantha Power was questioned Thursday when she arrived at John F. Kennedy airport in New York.
Powers said when she exited the plane, customs officers asked about her health as well as her interactions with infected patients in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
The officers also took her temperature, which she tweeted a photo of, before she was given an information kit and instructed to monitor herself over the next few weeks.
The Associated Press noted that Powers had previously criticized some state quarantine restrictions in the U.S.
JFK Airport was the first in the country that began screening travelers for Ebola after public fears over the debilitating disease mounted.
The virus has claimed the lives of more than 5,000 people, mostly in West Africa, over the past several months and is the worst outbreak in history.
