Authorities gave the all clear Sunday after receiving a call about a bomb on a plane traveling from Barcelona to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.
According to the Associated Press, American Airlines Flight 67 touched down safely around noon and responders with K-9 unit dogs quickly evacuated and searched the plane for any dangerous devices.
The New York Daily News noted that officials spent about two hours checking luggage taken from the plane before moving the 200 passengers to the gates.
No dangerous materials were found on the Boeing 767.
Port Authority of New York and New Jersey police spokesman Joe Pentangelo said that law enforcement officials are investigating where the false call came from.
"American Airlines apologizes for any inconvenience this may have caused, however, the safety of our passengers and crew is our top priority," a spokeswoman for the airline said.
The Sunday after Thanksgiving is one of the busiest travel days of year as people are returning home from a long weekend after the holiday.
