The story of rock 'n' roll icon, Janis Joplin, will be arriving on the big screen in a new bio pic and it has been announced who will be playing the "Piece of my Heart" singer. Amy Adams has been chose to portray Joplin in the upcoming movie which director Jean-Marc Vallée is in talks to helm.

People reported that Adams had originally been casted as Joplin back in 2010 but the film hit several roadblocks when it came to the script and production, now it seems as though Adams will be able to play the rock 'n' roll star after all.

In talks to direct the picture is Wild director, Jean-Marc Vallée, who is known for his Oscar winning film Dallas Buyers Club. The Hollywood Reporter added that Marc Vallée would be teaming up again with his writers from Dallas Buyers Club when it comes to writing the script for this bio pic.

Adams has said in several interviews that she is a fan of Joplin. In an interview with Vogue, when the American Hustle star was asked which celebrity she would want to have coffee with, she answers Joplin, but added that the drink of choice probably would not be coffee.
