Calvin Harris, who was scheduled to perform at the MTV EMAs on Nov. 9, will no longer be able to after he reportedly fell ill.
Billboard reports that Calvin, who is up for two awards at the MTV EMAs (Best Electronic Act and Best UK and Ireland Act awards), was supposed to perform at the show on Sunday night. Unfortunately, the DJ had to call in sick just 24 hours before he was supposed take the stage- no doubt sad news for fans attending and watching the Nov. 9 show.
The news was announced on the MTV EMAs Facebook page, saying, "Hey #MTVEMA fans – we have some really sad news. Calvin Harris has taken ill and will not be able to perform at tomorrow’s show. He sends his sincere apologies."
According to the Daily Mail, Harris reportedly tweeted the news that he had to pull out of performing at the EMAs. He said, "No EMAs for me this weekend. Got some heart problems. Heading home to see if it can be fixed x." That tweet appears to have since been deleted.
The show, which is being held in Glasgow this year, will be hosted by "Anaconda" rapper Nicki Minaj. Minaj has been hyping fans up through her Instagram account, even posting a promo video a few weeks ago.
The Daily Mail reports that other stars, including Ed Sheeran, Alicia Keys, and U2 are supposed to perform at the EMAs.
Despite having to cancel his performance at the EMAs, Harris has been celebrating the recent release of his newest album, Motion, which became available on Nov. 4.
