Just hours after it was rumored that Channing Tatum would get a role in Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, The Weinstein Company confirmed that he has signed on. The studio also says that The Bridge star Demian Bichir will star as well.

Overnight, it was reported by Deadline that Tatum will have a major role in the Western epic. Now, TheWrap is reporting that TWC has made it official.

Tatum and Bichir have never worked with Tarantino before. Jennifer Jason Leigh, another Tarantino rookie, also has a part in the film.

Bruce Dern will star in The Hateful Eight, along with Tarantino regular Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen and Tim Roth. Walton Goggins and Kurt Russell, who have also worked with the director, have roles.

Of course, The Hateful Eight is the film that Tarantino had threatened to shelf after the script leaked. However, after a live reading of the script, Tarantino warmed up to the idea of filming it right away and a poster in July confirmed that it will be his next movie.

The film, set in the years following the Civil War, will reach theaters in 2015.

Tatum was last seen in Foxcatcher, which opens nationally on Nov. 14. He is currently making Magic Mike XXL and will next make the X-Men spinoff Gambit for Fox.
