CNN anchor Don Lemon is under fire for comments he made Monday night during the Ferguson protests.

The New York Daily News noted that Lemon was blasted on social media when he said that drugs were “obviously” being used by the crowd.

"Obviously there's a smell of marijuana here as well," Lemon told viewers.

The paper labeled the journalist’s comment as "culturally insensitive."

On Twitter, Russell Simmons wrote “Anderson Cooper/ CNN reporters putting this is [sic] perspective "almost everyone is peaceful".. Don lemon "obviously I smell Marijuana " wtf.”

Olympic High Jump silver medalist Erik Kynard Jr. chimed in, “At what instance is the stench of marijuana being in the air pertinent information don lemon sheesh smh,” he tweeted.

Lemon was also criticized for taking off his gas mask off amid tear gas and trying to mimic what some viewers called a “St. Louis accent.”

This is not the first time the reporter has come under fire for something he said on the air. Most recently, he was slammed for comments he made during an interview with a Bill Cosby accuser pertaining to oral sex the woman claimed to have had with the comedian.
