Creed was once one of the biggest bands in the world, but their fortunes have changed in recent years. Frontman Scott Stapp posted an emotional video on the group’s Facebook page to reveal the personal troubles he is facing today.
In the 15-minute video, Stapp says that rumors that he died or was in rehab are false. However, it is true that he does not have any money. He had personal audits done on his record company and other business associates, only to discover that he was not being paid royalties and even had money stolen.
“Right now I’m living in a Holiday Inn, by the grace of God, because there’s been a couple of weeks I had to live in my truck,” Stapp told his fans, reports Variety. “I had no money, not even for gas or food. I went two days without eating because I had no money and ended up in an emergency room.”
Stapp insisted that there are a group of people who are trying to slander him and have threatened to release damaging information about him if he goes public like he did today. He also slammed the Internet culture, where misinformation posted without consequences.
“There’s definitely a problem,” Stapp said. “This is not the country that I grew up believing in. This is not the America that I want for my children and their future.”
Creed last toured in 2012 and are on hiatus. TheCelebrityCafe.com interviewed Stapp that year.
