Jim Carrey is back thanks to a role that made him famous two decades ago. The comedian found box office success thanks to Dumb and Dumber To, which exceeded expectations for Universal this weekend.

The Farrelly Brothers sequel, which comes exactly 20 years after the original Dumb and Dumber, opened to a surprising $38.05 million, according to estimates from Rentrak. That’s nearly $10 million more than what some analysts were predicting on Friday.

Disney’s Big Hero 6 also did a bit better than expected, but came in at No. 2. The animated film scored $36.01 million, which brings its domestic total to a stellar $111.65 million. Clearly, the studio is on an incredible streak with its animated films, following hits with Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph and Frozen.

Next up was Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, which added $29.19 million. That brings its total to $97.8 million. Sure, that sounds good, but Paramount was probably expecting it to be a bit more. The film wasn’t helped by mixed reviews after its first weekend. But the film is getting a long IMAX run, which should help it stay in the Top 5 a little longer.

According to Variety, the film has at least been a hit overseas, with a global total of $321.9 million after this weekend.

Romantic drama Beyond The Lights, from Relativity Media, opened to $6.5 million. Gine Girl just won’t go away, adding $4.625 million. Its domestic total is now at $152.69 million.

Next weekend, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay- Part 1 opens, which will likely reshape the box office landscape.
