Eminem is known for rapping about violent subject matter but some would argue that his latest controversial rap verse has crossed the line.
The veteran rapper, who has sobered up and pulled back the reigns on his violent lyrics in recent years, rapped about Baltimore Ravens’ Ray Rice knocking out his then-fiance, Janay Rice in an Atlantic City elevator, which got him released from the Ravens and kicked out of the NFL.
"I'll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plan sight of elevator surveillance / Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens,” Eminem raps in the compilation Shady XV.
Billboard reports he also referred to Janay Rice as a “knockout.”
Lana Del Rey is hardly the first pop star Eminem has taken a shot at. In his past songs he’s taken jabs at Mariah Carey, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.
The full extent of Rice’s physical abuse was uncovered by TMZ when a surveillance video in the elevator showed him knock his now-wife to the ground.
