Fall Out Boy, who formed in Wilmette, Illinois in 2001, have teamed up with Lupe Fiasco, another Chicago-based artist, and released a rockin' revamp of the song, "Only the Bulls," an anthem released for the Chicago Bulls basketball team in 1996.
The Fall Out Boy/ Lupe Fiasco version of "Only the Bulls," is definitely an updated, less cheesy version of the 1996 anthem, according to Billboard. The Chicago natives have turned the song into a legit anthem song, worthy of chanting at Chicago Bulls games.
NBA.com is reporting that the idea to make a more modern, rock/rap version of the song came when, during the 2013-14 basketball season, the Chicago Bulls played the original song to celebrate a win by the team. Because the Alternative four-some and Fiasco are natives of Chicago, they were specifically chosen to remake the song.
Because Fall Out Boy has collaborated with other rappers in the past, including 2 Chainz, the collaboration between Fall Out Boy and Fiasco isn't much of a surprise.
The original song was composed by Ira Antelis, Cheryl Berman, and Steve Schanwald.
The new "Only the Bulls," features two new rap verses written by Fiasco who at one point exclaims, "Represent for the city I was born in!" Hopefully the Bulls will be blasting their updated anthem at games they play during the 2015-2015 basketball season! The Chicago Bulls even announced the news of the remix on their Twitter.
