George Stephanopoulos confirmed that he interviewed a controversial person for an upcoming news story, police officer Darren Wilson of Ferguson, Missouri.
Wilson is the man who found himself in the middle of the shooting that shot and killed 18-year old Michael Brown back on August 9th of this year, notes Variety. Stephanopoulos revealed the news on Twitter with a message and picture of the interview. ABC says the interview will be aired on Tuesday night’s World News Tonight with David Muir, along with Nightline and Wednesday’s Good Morning America.
Other famous reporters tried to get the interview with Wilson. The Hollywood Reporter said that Anderson Cooper from CNN was one person to attempt to meet with Wilson among others. All the big news companies attempted to interview Wilson the weekend before the verdict was released.
The Celebrity Café reported that prosecutors on Monday said Wilson wouldn’t be indicted by a grand jury for shooting and killing an unarmed African-American teenager named Michael Brown. Conflicting accounts of what happened include local police claiming that Brown tried to take Wilson’s gun, or witnesses that claimed Wilson shot Brown while his hands were up upon surrender. The Justice Department and Brown’s family may still issue civil lawsuits and charges.
