Though Taylor Swift will never directly divulge who her songs are about, it’s pretty obvious most of the time. One of her exes, Harry Styles, happens to be pretty understanding about it all, considering he’s in the same profession as she’s in and views it as art rather than as a vindictive move.
Styles was asked what he thought about her songs like “I Knew You Were Trouble,” which is rumored to be about their short-lived relationship and he surprisingly said he was “lucky” in a way because at least it’s a good song.
“We always say that we write from personal experience," he said in a video hangout over the weekend to promote One Direction’s Four, ABC News reports.
"Everyone does, so it would be hypocritical of us to be like, 'Oh, you can’t write about us,' and she's really good. So, they are good songs. So, I'm lucky in that sense."
Swift has wrote songs about former boyfriends like Jake Gyllenhaal and John Mayer, but she’s made it her mission to separate herself from that mold she’s been placed in.
Her album 1989 sold 1.2 million copies in its first week of sales, so it’s safe to say her tactics are working.
