Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars have teamed up for a new single, which will get you dancing and lift your spirits on a Monday.
Ronson is about to release his fourth album, Uptown Special, with “Uptown Funk” as the first single. He recruited Mars for the vocals, giving Mars his first platform since 2012’s Unorthodox Jukebox. According to Rolling Stone, the two are scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live with a special guest on Nov. 22.
In addition to “Uptown Funk,” they plan on performing another new song.
“Uptown Funk” was written by Ronson with Jeff Bhasker, with lyrics by novelist Michael Chabon. Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker, Miike Snow’s Andrew Wyatt, Emile Haynie, James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, DJ Zinc and TNGHT’s Hudson Mohawke also contributed to the album.
Ronson is, of course, best known for his Grammy-winning production on Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black. Entertainment Weekly points out that he also won a Grammy for production on Unorthodox Jukebox last year.
As for Mars, he’s been mostly quiet since his Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show, but in June, Ronson said that the two are working together again.
