It may have been a rough year for Iggy Azalea, but at the 2014 American Music Awards she came out with something to brag about: her very first music award, for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album.

The Australian rapper has had a lot to deal with in just the last few months: an online feud Snoop Dogg, the threats that an alleged sex tape would be released without her permission, and responding to Eminem's rape threats in his new song, "Vegas."

The 24-year-old has had a lot to celebrate this year as well, having successful collaborations with Ariana Grande, J.Lo, and Rita Ora. Her hit song, "Fancy," was even named Billboard's Song of the Summer.

And now it looks like all of Azalea's hard work and dedication has paid off after she earned an AMA for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop album for her debut album, The New Classic, according to E! News. Azalea beat out Eminem and Drake for the award, and she expressed appreciation in her acceptance speech.

"This award is the first award I've ever won in my entire life and it means so much to me that it is for Best Hip-Hop, because that's what inspired me to move to America and pursue my dream," the rapper said. "It's what helped me when I was a teenager to escape and to get through my life and to better times."

Azalea also thanked her mentor, T.I., as well as her fans.
