Rapper Jay Z purchased his favorite brand of champagne, Armand de Brignac Champagne, from Sovereign Brands for an undisclosed amount.
Jay Z, 44, made the company an offer they couldn’t refuse, according to Daily Mail.
The company announced the deal in a statement with The New York Times saying, “We are proud to announce that Sovereign Brands, a New York-based wine and spirits company, has sold its interest in the Armand de Brignac Champagne brand to a new company led by the globally-renowned Shawn "Jay Z" Carter.”
Armand de Brignac, which is nicknamed "Ace of Spades,” goes for $300 a bottle but can go as high as $200,000 for 30-liter bottles made of gold, Billboard reports.
Yvonne Lardner, global director of brand communications for Sovereign, also added a statement about the deal with the “Holy Grail” rapper.
“We have had a wonderful relationship with Jay Z throughout the years since he first discovered Armand de Brignac. He became interested in owning the brand and made us an offer we simply couldn’t refuse,” Lardner said.
The Roc Nation founder has been a fan of the company for several years, Daily Mail notes. In 2006, one of their gold bottles was featured in Jay Z’s “Show Me What You Got” video. The champagne appeared again in 2012 at a fundraiser thrown by him and his wife, Beyoncé, at the 40/40 club in New York City where he set up a tower of 350 bottles.
The rapper, who is worth $500 million according to Forbes, also made Armand de Brignac available at a champagne bar for super-luxury box owners during his time as part owner of the Brooklyn Nets.
